Hi, I'm Ron, welcome to my blog, Random Doorways! Club Scrap Member Hetty Sanders had a great idea to host a blog hop to showcase February's Up, Up & Away kit. I tend to play both with the paper and digital kits, but since I figured that most of the hop participants would be doing things with paper, I opted to made a couple of digital pieces (and I actually help create the digital kits at Club Scrap each month, so I especially like working with them!).
First up is a 12x12 layout using a blended background technique:
If you want to learn more about blending photos into the background, please read my blog tutorial HERE at the Club Scrap Creates! blog.
I tend to keep my layouts pretty basic, so in addition to the photo, there's just a fiber (with custom shadow) and a title that's blended into the background using a layer style. Simple but effective, I think.
Next, I made a digital card:
As a paper crafter, I love to make cards, but I think that many people just don't 'get' the use of digital cards, even though they're a lot of fun to make. I've got another tutorial at Club Scrap Creates! on making and using digital cards. You can read it HERE if you'd like.
This one was really easy to assemble - just a few layers of digital 'paper' (or backgrounds), that über-cool steampunk hot air balloon (designed by the very talented Jac Carney and included in the Up, Up & Away digital kit!) and a sentiment or 2 - didn't take more than 20 minutes to create.
So that's just a little bit of what you can create with one of Club Scrap's digital kits. Really, the possibilities are endless!
Thanks for visiting my blog today! Your next stop on the Up, Up & Away Blog Hop is Roni, over at http://inkstainswithroni.blogspot.com/, I hope you'll stop by and say hi!
(And please leave a comment if you enjoyed the post, bloggers love to get comments!)

I'd forgotten all about those digital cards, Ron! Better get back at it, cuz it's always way more fun to post something like that on a FB wall rather than "Happy Birthday."
Hi Ron! What a great set of layouts as always and the card is fabulous! I love that you used the balloon! It is one of my favorite CS digi embellies!
I always learn something new from you, Ron. Thank you for sharing your creativity with us. Now I'm off to re-visit those blog tutorials!
Ron - I look forward to your posts every week on the Club Scrap Creates! blog. Although I don't do digi art, I always find something inspirational in your posts. This one is no exception. Many paper artists today use too many embellishments. You remind me of the beauty of simplicity.
Nice digital samples Ron,
TFS,
Cathy

The scrapbook page is just gorgeous. Not only do I want to scrap just like you : ) but now I want to go there! Thank you for the gorgeous inspiration.
Never made a digital card but have been wanting to. Need to try this when I have a spare moment.
Always love your stuff Ron! TFS

So cool Ron! Love seeing what you can do with digital :)
Love the layout and card Ron! Thank you for the inspiration.
86Awesome, Ron!
Soooo love the digi kits - I still need to get my hands on this months' kit! Love the inspirations!
You have inspired me to do more digital cards. I love to do digital from my scrapbook pages but cards have not been on my radar! Thanks Ron.
Ron your digi LO is a stunner. I love how you blended the text paper into the sky. Now I want to read your tutorial on digi cards.
Very, very cool!
Beautiful work- love the scenery page- and the technique is beautiful! The Steampunk balloon- so cool!
what a gorgeous digi layout, and fun card. I need to get back to practicing digital stuff.
I've been one of those who often wonder what people do with these digi cards. I read your other post and I agree it's a good idea. But how does one post a card on Facebook? Just curious. Just as a photo in your album?
Your digi posts at CS are always bookmarked or Pinned. You do such great tutorials. I'm new at digi, but you've helped me get going on it. Love the layout and card.
Ron, thanks for sharing. Had a real aha moment after reading your blog. I have to try digital cards.
You are on my blogger list now. I'll be keeping an eye on all of your creativity. These cards are beautiful!
love that layout and pretty card
Although I'm not a digi scrapper, I sure enjoy looking at the work of others!
That digital card is awesome!! Love the texture and artsy look of it!
That steam punk balloon is so cool! The digital cards are such a great idea.
Thanks to everyone who posted comments on today's blog; I really appreciate it! Jennifer, if you happen to see this - you can add a photo to a Facebook comment - that's how I 'give' someone a card via FB; hope this helps!
Have to say I love the picture of Greece at the top of your page! Would love to be scarappin' there! Thanks for your projects Ron - I am starting digi very slowly...
Melanie
Totally awesome projects (as always) Ron, love the blending of the photo and background, seems like the perfect photo with the perfect background for sure. That is a uber-cool digi hot air balloon to say the least, thinking you and Jac went all out designing this great digital collection - as always, thank you so much for sharing your talents with us!
Gorgeous digital art, Ron!
Ron, I do love what you do with the digital. Haven't tried it myself but might try the stamps.
That shadow thing you put up the other day was stunning1 Now just add the smell of glue and the feel of paper and I might tumble!
Thanx for being on this Hop.
Ron, I really love what you can do with all things digi! Wish I could get into it but I love my CS paper too much. LOL
TFS
